The world is pretty in pink…plus…sometimes it even sparkles

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

WOW! What a day!

I must say that I am a very lucky lady and feel completely honoured to have a great man in my life. FilmGUy has changed my world for the better and for good. We didn’t exchange sappy presents or do anything overtly romantic – we kind of just walked around town, watched a Canucks game at a bar, played some pool, and bought a few laptops. We do all that sappy stuff daily so no need to indulge in the commercialism of Valentine’s Day. St. Valentine, I’m sure, is already impressed with our ability to love all days of the year….or 9 months that FilmGuy and I have been together. We did, however, reaffirm to each other how much we mean to each other and the importance of having each other in our lives. Are you puking yet? No? good. It really isn’t all that sappy, in fact FilmGuy is a tremendous writer and has a gift for humour. Combined equals a hilarious and non-politically correct love letter that I would never share. But will say this. He’d do anything for me. And I truly believe he does love his dog Noodle more.

On another note. If you’ve been living under a bubble lately. The Winter Olympics has started in Vancouver this past weekend. And if you didn’t know, out of the two previous Olympic Games hosted in this great nation, no Canadian athlete had ever won an Olympic Gold Medal. Crazy eh? Well…that is until tonight. Alex Biloudeau rocked the Men’s moguls event at Cypress mountain and ended up finish first!!! He will be awarded his GOLD medal at the Victory ceremony tomorrow night at BC Place. Vancouver went a little crazy with excitement. I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the country thinks when they wake up tomorrow morning. One of the craziest things, is Morgan Freeman’s voice over on the VISA television ad, congratulating Canada on their first gold medal. Way to go VISA for having that in the can for just an occasion! It was running no more than two hours after the event finished.

Tomorrow I’m at UBC volunteering for the Women’s Hockey event. Should be a good day. Can’t wait to participate. It was good to have a day off from everything and enjoy my life with FilmGuy.

How was your Valentine’s Day spent?

  1. I did the cliche stuff, but you know I’ve never done that before so it was fun to do it.

I lived in Atlanta during the ’96 Olympics. One of the the best experiences of my life. Enjoy!

  2. Awww, so happy that you had a good Valentine’s Day! We spent ours at a lodge with a fireplace in our room and a big indoor waterpark to play in. We did this as the snow fell outside in massive quantities. Yay for warmth, of all types.

Re: the loving the dog more. I think that is okay; I love my hand-raised kitties more than my man…and more than most everybody really. I still really love certain people; I just have an unbeatable bond with my furkids. *Swoon* 🙂

Glad to have you back blogging! And totally jealous of the Olympics gig.

  3. Sounds like you are a lucky woman! 🙂

Mine was spent at the House of Switerzerland… eating chocolate. Haha 😉 The Olympics are here so we didn’t really have a “normal” Valentine’s Day 😉

  4. with the Olympics I Haven’t been near a computer to blog for anything at any given time. I hope to get a recap and pics of the past two weeks up after this all ends on Sunday. Vancouver will be experiencing one heck of a hangover.
