The world is pretty in pink…plus…sometimes it even sparkles

ahhhh mother nature. she must be in a bad mood lately. listening to the radio and watching the news and seeing the Arctic air flow monopolizing most of North America, just goes to show, stop pissing the woman off.
this is what this morning looks like in Vancouver, looking South towards Kitsilano, the area in which I live.

Now most of you are probably wondering what the deal is? why are you complaining? you live in Canada, deal with it.

Yes I live in Canada. But I live in Vancouver, Canada – which is suppose to be a moderate temperate climate. aka. rain forest where it rains and the snow stays on the mountains. Now, I’ve grown up here my whole life, and as a child, of course I loved playing in the snow and loved having a snow day. Now in my adult life, I hate being cold and snow gear is expensive and because I don’t take part in skiing or snowboarding on a regular basis [read, at all!], I don’t feel the need to purchase said warm snow gear.

Not to mention my car, the turtle, doesn’t do snow either. I hate driving in snow, mainly because I don’t have to do it and therefore can’t effectively drive in snow. Most Vancouverites can’t drive in snow either. We don’t practice how to do it, hell, we don’t even learn how to do it. All I learned about driving in the snow was to drive the wagon over [through?] snow banks on the side of the road from my dad, Bob. He grew up in Grand Prairie, Alberta and walked 10kms to the bus stop for school in blowing snow while protecting his little sister. yeah. right.

So now it snows. The best part is that there is a Snowfall warning for greater Vancouver. You know…all 5cm that is going to fall. don’t laugh, 5cm is crippling to this city and it’s all but 10 snow trucks and 1 plane de-icer at the airport.

Welcome to the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, where, if it snows, you’ll be lucky if you can arrive let alone leave if it does snow for those 14 days of glory. Speaking of the games….I didn’t get a single ticket in the lotto while others got almost everything they wanted….damn the games.

Cheers.
